Below is a partial list of aftermarket options to address the blind zone behind a motor vehicle. KIDS AND CARS does not endorse any particular product but rather offers this information in order to educate drivers. Consumers can also find additional products at local after market dealers and on the Internet. KIDS AND CARS assumes no liability or responsibility for use of such devices.
Drivers should be aware that technology does not replace proper supervision of children and proper backing and driving techniques. Children should NEVER be left alone in or around a motor vehicle.

Auto
Vision Guard is designed to provide drivers with a better rear view compared
to
the traditional reflection mirror in order to enhance and promote safe driving. A
build-in LCD, a digital distance indicator, along with two reading lights
is integrated in the rear reflection mirror. The rear vision mirror looks and functions exactly the same as a stand mirror that reflects the rear vision. Whenever the LCD display is activated, images taken by the high quality CCD digital camera mounted on the rear end of the vehicle are projected instantly onto the LCD, thus provide a clear, non-distorted, wide angle view of any possible objects behind the vehicle. The four ultrasonic sensors mounted on the rear bumper of the vehicle initiate automatically once the vehicle is shifted to reverse gear. The distance indicator will then identify the distance, in feet, between the rear bumper of the vehicle and any possible obstacles behind the vehicle. An audible buzz is also integrated in the Auto Vision Guard to help the driver to identify the proximity of rear bumper clearance in order to enhance and promote safe driving. |

Reverse Backing Systems | |
WHY?!!!
Look at the Statistics..... • Every 1.6 minutes, another U.S. driver backs into trouble. • Each year in the United States there are over 300,000 reported reversing accidents, in driveways, parking lots, and neighborhoods all over the country. • These accidents account for more than 400 deaths annually, usually involving young children, costing drivers in excess of 1.3 billion dollars in damages. • According to the Department of Transportation, 27% of all accidents occur in reverse. Further research showed that 70% of these accidents could have been prevented with the use of a collision avoidance system. |
